The event was attended by the chairman of the Women’s Council of the educational institution Shamukhamedova F.A., psychologist TDSI Safarova E.M., vr.i.o. head of the Department of Public Health, Health Management and Physical Culture Nurmamatova K.Ch., Deputy Dean for Youth Affairs and tutors of the faculty. The chairman of the Women’s Council of the Faculty of Dentistry Rustamova H.E. noted that the issues of “Protecting women from harassment and violence” and ensuring gender equality in society are among the most urgent, and the state pays great attention to this issue. This topic was highlighted in her speech by lawyer of institute D.N.Kamilova.
On September 2, 2019, in order to strengthen the mechanism for protecting women, a new Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the protection of women from harassment and violence” was adopted. This law was developed in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated March 7, 2019 “On measures to further strengthen guarantees of women’s labor rights and support entrepreneurship”. The law, developed by the Women’s Committee of Uzbekistan jointly with the Ministry of Justice and the National Center for Human Rights, consists of 35 articles. The purpose of this law is to protect women from all forms of harassment and violence in marriage, in the workplace, in educational institutions and elsewhere. Regulation of relations in this area, as well as ensuring legal and social protection of victims of repression and violence are also important tasks of the law.
