The Department of Therapeutic Dentistry was founded in 1956. The Department of Therapeutic Dentistry was founded by a number of specialists from Moscow (Busigina M.V., Khersonskaya F.I., Luneva M.G.), Kiev (Epishev V.A., Episheva L.R.), Voronezh (Goncharova E.I.), Leningrad (Shilov V.I.).
Over the past period, the following have served as heads of the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry:
Professor Busigina Margarita Valeryanovna (from 1957 to 1966);
Professor Epishev Vladimir Aleksandrovich (from 1967 to 1991);
Professor Zufarov Alimzhan Aripyanovich (from 1991 to 1992);
Professor Safarov Toshpulat Khamdamovich (from 1992 to 2006);
Professor Komilov Khaydar Pazilovich (born in 2006 - until 2014).
In 1987, the 2nd Department of Therapeutic Dentistry was separated from the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry, which later received the name “Department of Therapeutic Dentistry for 5th-year students” in 1999.
From June 1987 to January 1988, the head of the department was Associate Professor S.I. Bektashev. From January 1988 to 1997, this department was headed by Professor F.M. Mamedova.
In 1997, this department was declared “Course of Therapeutic Dentistry” and in 1999 it was again renamed “Department of Therapeutic Dentistry for 5th-year students”. During this period, the department was again headed by Associate Professor S.I. Bektashev.
DEPARTMENT OF THERAPEUTIC STOMATOLOGY FOR 5TH-COURSE STUDENTS
In 1987, the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry No. 2 was separated from the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry, and on its basis in 1999 the “Department of Therapeutic Dentistry for the 5th year” was established.
From June 1987 to January 1988, the head of the department was Associate Professor S.I. Bektashev.
From January 1988 to 1997, the department was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Honored Inventor, “Excellent Worker of Health” Flora Magrupovna Mamedova (born in 1940). The professor graduated from Tashkent State Institute of Dentistry in 1960, defended her candidate's thesis in 1965, and her doctoral thesis in 1982. Professor F.M. Mamedova has prepared 1 doctor of science and 10 candidates of science, is the author of 150 scientific works, including atlases of diseases: oral mucosa, microanatomy of the tooth root, 3 reference books of recipes, 10 inventions.
During this period, the following worked at the department: T.N. Fayzullayev, A.T. Turabov, I.G. Giyasov, L.N. Popova, I.S. Grigoryan, X.A. Abdulakhatova, K.Yu. Saidova, M.G. Luneva, S.F. Khafizova, D.K. Nazarova, O.E. Bekzhanova, Yu.A. Akbarova, III.I. Ibragimova, D.U. Mirakhmedova, N.A. Muborakova.
In 1997, the name of the department was changed to the course of therapeutic dentistry and was included in the department of training general practice dentists. In 1999, the department was re-established as the “Department of Therapeutic Dentistry for 5th-year students”.
In 1997-1999, the course, and then the department, was headed by Ph.D. Associate Professor Seyran Ibragimovich Bektashev (1936-2012). He graduated from Tashkent State Dental Institute in 1965, defended his candidate's thesis in 1972.
Since September 1999, the department has been headed by Ph.D. Associate Professor Alimdzhan Aripdzhanovich Zufarov (1946-2002). A.A.Zufarov graduated from Tashkent State Dental Institute in 1968, defended his candidate's thesis in 1973. He is the author of 65 scientific works devoted to topical issues of dentistry. A.A.Zufarov in 1991-1992. Head of the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry, 1992-1999 - Head of the Department of Children's Therapeutic Dentistry. During this period, the department was staffed by prof. U.D.Jumatov, associate professors - S.I.Bektashev, N.A.Muborakova, D.U.Mirakhmedova, assistants - L.N.Popova, O.E.Bekzhanova, Yu.A.Akbarova, I.I.Misharova, Sh.T.Akilova.
In theoretical classes, students studied methods of treating dental diseases such as caries and its complications, as well as periodontal and mucous membrane diseases. In practical classes, students, under the guidance of a teacher, received patients and participated in consultations with the head of the department, associate professors and assistants. The staff of the department regularly provided consultative, diagnostic and treatment assistance to the population of Tashkent and our Republic. Postgraduate students and clinical residents were trained at the department. Scientific ties have been established with relevant departments of medical institutes of the CIS.
