The establishment of the Department of Pediatric Therapeutic Dentistry.

The establishment of this department covers a long period. With the establishment of the Tashkent State Medical Institute in 1931, the development of medicine in our country took place at a rapid pace. In 1954, the Faculty of Dentistry began its activities, and by 1976, thanks to the efforts of the relevant authorities, the Department of Pediatric Dentistry was established. The head of this department was also transferred to Associate Professor E. U. Mahkamov, and in 1977-85, the department was headed by Professor Ioanidis Georgiy Petrovich. By this time, along with scientific and theoretical research, there were many clinical and professional achievements in Dentistry.

С 1986 по 1992 год кафедру детской стоматологии возглавлял профессор Тошпулат Хамдамович Сафаров. В этот период на кафедре детской стоматологии началось четкое разграничение направлений детской хирургической стоматологии и детской терапевтической стоматологии.

В последующие годы кафедру возглавляли: с 1992 по 1997 год – доцент Зуфаров Алимжон Арифджанович, с 1997 по 2007 год – профессор Юлдашханова Озодахон Сотволдиевна, с 2007 по 2012 год – профессор Азимов Мухаммаджон Исмаилович, с 2012 по 2014 год – профессор Дусмухамедов Махмуд Закирович.

Созданные на кафедре условия способствовали непрерывной подготовке научных кадров и повышению научного потенциала кафедры и института. Проводилась работа по улучшению условий обучения на кафедре, применялись новые технологии в обучении студентов. Профессор А.С. Юлдашханова первой в республике создала и развила научное направление в области профилактики и лечения кариозных заболеваний зубов и слизистой оболочки полости рта, а также оздоровления пародонтита в детском возрасте.

Под руководством Юлдашхановой Озодахон Сотволдиевны на кафедре разработано более 100 научных работ, более 10 учебников и учебных пособий, защищены 20 кандидатов наук и 2 доктора наук. Под руководством А.С. Юлдашхановой кафедра детской терапевтической стоматологии приобрела статус учебно-практической базы повышения квалификации врачей и научно-педагогических кадров высших медицинских учебных заведений Республики Узбекистан. From 2014 to the present, the department has been called Children's Therapeutic Dentistry and operates under the direction of Professor Murtazayev Saidmuradkhon Saida'loyevich.

The staff of the department, together with students, carry out regular treatment and preventive work to prevent major dental diseases in schools, kindergartens and orphanages. They teach children the rules of personal oral hygiene. This project, which has been ongoing since 2014, has been carried out in more than 400 schools and preschool educational organizations in Tashkent City, regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

Currently, 5 associate professors, 1 senior teacher, and 11 assistants are conducting scientific and pedagogical activities in the department. The subjects are taught using multimedia systems. For this, electronic educational resources have been created for the subjects. 1 doctoral student and 4 independent researchers are conducting scientific activities in the department.
